Smooth and Soften the Look of Your Brow
The forehead and brow are often the first areas of the face to display signs of aging. Lines across the forehead and between the eyes may deepen due to repeated facial expressions. Starting in our thirties, the eyebrows begin to descend as skin and soft tissues lose elasticity. This crowds the eyes, which causes “hooding” of the upper eyelids, and skin excess. Low, flat eyebrows convey an aged, tired, or even disgruntled appearance. Your tired, angry, or sad expression may not reflect how you actually feel.
The Benefits of a Brow Lift
Surgical rejuvenation of the brow and forehead can be performed with brow lift (forehead lift) surgery. This will create a refreshed appearance where the brow frames the eyes and restores a youthful position and shape to the eyebrows.
Brow lift surgery is frequently performed in conjunction with eyelid rejuvenation surgery as part of a complete approach to improving the appearance of the eyes and upper face. Volume loss in the forehead and temples can be addressed at the same time as a brow lift with autologous fat transfer. Brow lift surgery is frequently performed with facelift surgery.
The Brow Lift Procedure
Modern brow lift surgery has evolved to minimize downtime and provide long-lasting, superior cosmetic results. The surgery is performed in an outpatient surgery center under general or twilight anesthesia. The procedure takes approximately two hours. A minimally invasive (endoscopic) brow lift utilizes small incisions behind the hairline. An endoscope (device with a tiny camera the size of an eraser head) is inserted under the skin of the forehead, and all work is completed through four small incisions. The brow is lifted and fixed in its upward and youthful position, and the skin incisions behind the hairline are closed. During the procedure, part of the muscle that causes vertical frown lines between the brows is removed, resulting in a smoother brow and a more youthful expression.
Following brow lift surgery, patients typically experience only mild discomfort. Most patients are able to return to work after seven to ten days and can resume strenuous activities after three to four weeks.
