The Three S’s of Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation is one of the top consultations that we see women for at our Denver plastic surgery practice. After deciding to enhance her bust line through breast augmentation, a woman’s first question for Dr. Rhee often has to do with what implant will give her the best possible results.

The Right Breast Implant Is Unique to You

The process of choosing the right implant for you starts only after you have had “a discussion about [your] specific desires,” says board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Rhee. Fortunately, we have a number of breast implant options at the Center for Plastic Surgery at Castle Rock and can personalize your enhancement to meet your individual needs.

Decoding the Three S’s

When deciding between the many implants available to them, Dr. Rhee encourages his patients to consider the three s’s: size, shape, and substance (saline or silicone).

Size

The size of the implant will need to be proportionate to your height, weight, and frame, as well with what you hope to achieve from your breast augmentation. Clearly, the larger the implant in proportion to your frame, the more pronounced your results will be.

Shape

“A decision with respect to your implant size and procedure should be based on not only your expectation in terms of cup size but also shape,” explains Dr. Rhee. We offer both round and shaped implants at our Denver practice. More able to closely follow the natural curvature of a woman’s body, Dr. Rhee has found that shaped implants give us the ability to “better control the shape of your outcome.”

Substance (Silicone or Saline)

In the right patient, both saline and silicone implants can have a beautiful outcome. With that said, many of our patients find that silicone implants look and feel more natural than saline, as the gummy-like cohesive gel fill is more closely able mimic that of their natural breast tissue.

At Denver’s Center for Plastic Surgery at Castle Rock, we understand that breast augmentation can make a woman feel beautiful and confident with her appearance. Choosing the right implant is an important part of that. Along with Dr. Rhee, we are committed to helping you decide on the implant that is right for you and your body.
